At the heart of this journey was Jungle James. That year, he faced one of the toughest battles of his life. 💪 Seriously unwell, it would have been easy to give up — but instead, he chose to fight. Fueled by determination, courage, and a deep love for animals ❤️, he rebuilt not only his health but his future.
With a lifelong passion for the natural world and years of experience caring for all creatures great and small 🐢🐇, J&C Party Pets was born. What started as a spark during the darkest of times became a thriving, joy-filled reality that continues to inspire and grow to this day. 🌿✨ |
The first event | | 📅 2014 – Where It All Began 🐾
It all started with a simple act of kindness. Jungle James and Craig brought a few of their beloved pets 🐍🦜🐇 to a local charity event at their doctors’ surgery, raising funds for the nearby hospice ❤️🏥. What began as a small gesture quickly turned into something extraordinary.
As curious smiles lit up the room and the animals stole the show, people began to ask, “Do you do other events?” 🤔🎉
That one unforgettable day sparked a wildfire of interest — and just like that, a dream turned into a mission. From a heartfelt community moment to the beginnings of a full-blown animal experience business, the journey of J&C Party Petshad officially begun… and the rest, as they say, is history. 🌟🐾 |

Following the incredible success of our parties and animal visits 🎉🐾, we felt inspired to go even further. We dreamed of creating a place where even more people — especially children 👧🧒 — could get up close, learn about our amazing animals, and discover how to care for them with kindness and respect 🐢❤️.
With passion driving us forward, we approached Maldon Council with a bold vision 🌟. After a lot of hard work and determination, our dream became reality — we proudly opened our very first Petting Zoo! 🐐🦙🐓

Where we are now | 2021 | 📅 2021 – A Thriving Zoo Full of Life 🐾💪
By 2021, J&C’s Party Pets had grown into something truly extraordinary — now caring for over 300 amazing animalsfrom all walks of life! 🐍🦜🐢🐇 Jungle James and his dedicated team work tirelessly, day and night, to ensure every single creature receives the love, care, and attention they so rightly deserve. ❤️⏰
A remarkable 80% of our animals are rescues, each one given a second chance and a forever home within our vibrant zoo 🏡💚. From reptiles and rodents to birds and barnyard favourites, every life matters here.
Our day kicks off bright and early with thorough health checks 🔍🌅 — making sure everyone is happy and well. Then it’s breakfast time 🍽️, followed by a full round of cleaning to provide fresh food, clean water, and cosy bedding for all. 🧼🥬💦
While the team is hard at work with our furry, scaly, and feathered family, the office is buzzing 📞💻 with enquiries and bookings for our ever-popular animal experiences — proof that the magic of J&C’s Party Pets continues to capture hearts across the region. 🌟🐾
🔥💔 2021 – A Year of Heartbreak and Heroism 🦸♂️🐾
2021 was not only a year of growth — it was also a year marked by immense challenge, pain, and incredible strength. 💔
In a devastating turn of events, Jungle James suffered a serious accident that nearly cost him his right arm 🩻🩹. The physical scars are still visible today — and if you meet him at the zoo, you’ll see them yourself — a permanent reminder of a battle fought with courage and resilience. 💪🦾
Thanks to the unwavering dedication of an exceptional team of doctors and surgeons 🏥👨⚕️👩⚕️, and with sheer determination in his heart, James pulled through. He may joke that he’s “stronger than ever – well, kind of,” but those who know him see the quiet hero who never stopped pushing forward for the animals and the dream he built from the ground up. 🐾🌟
But tragedy struck again. Shortly after his accident, a catastrophic fire broke out at their private farm in Essex 🔥🏡. It was a heartbreaking loss — lives were taken far too soon. Precious animals, loved deeply, were lost… but never forgotten. 🕊️🐑🐓
Their memories live on in a beautiful memorial at the zoo 🌸🕯️, a peaceful space where their spirits are honoured, and where visitors can reflect on the love and legacy they left behind. They remain forever in Jungle James’ heart — always and forever. 💞🌈 Fly high, little ones.

This May, we proudly welcomed our second official zoo inspection — a major moment for any licensed zoo — and we’re absolutely thrilled to share that… we passed with flying colours! 📝🎉
The report was not only positive — it was very good, a true testament to the relentless dedication, professionalism, and heart that our entire team pours into every corner of Maldon Zoo. 💪🐢🦉 From enclosure standards to animal welfare, guest experience to educational outreach — we’re proud to be meeting and exceeding expectations across the board.
But we’re also the first to admit — we’re not perfect, and we’re still growing. 🛠️🌱 We know that improvements are needed around the zoo, and we’re working hard every single day to make them happen. As a small, family-run zoo, we do it all with love, grit, and determination — without the support of government grants or local funding 💼❌💷.
